Dr. Ruiz has been involved in all points of the school review process and resulting efforts to strengthen a God-focused and Bible-anchored educational journey for the students at Heritage. Throughout her own journey to this role, she has seen God’s hand and provision over the years. “I am blessed to have [been] in many different school settings that would allow me to be equipped for such a time as this,” she shared.

Looking back, you can see the ways God has prepared Dr. MacCullough for her role at ACSI throughout her life. As the daughter of Christian educators, she grew up attending Christian schools and graduated from Plumstead Christian in Pennsylvania. Early in her career, she taught elementary, middle, and high school math at several Christian schools, including Plumstead.

Though the school choice movement as we know it has been growing for the past 30 years, parents’ expressed desire for the best school option for their children has ramped up considerably since 2020. During the pandemic, many schools were either shut down completely or children were at home attending school online. As a result, parents were forced to take a more active role in their children’s education. Since then, more parents have chosen to pursue a variety of educational alternatives.
